Before signing: check the property registry (등기부등본) to confirm the owner and any mortgage, use a licensed real-estate agent, pay the deposit only to the owner's own bank account, and get a fixed date (확정일자) on your contract after moving in. Be careful with deals that look much cheaper than nearby places.
